As in the title, this book is about “Finding Community and Connection in Your Own Front Yard”. I was intrigued by the title of this book “The Turquoise Table” because that is my favorite color along with teal. I wanted to know what exactly a turquoise table would do for a front yard.
A turquoise table is basically a picnic table that is set up in your front yard to bring you out into your community or front yard and help you reach to those around you. I really enjoyed reading about this concept even though I do not live in a neighborhood and this would not work for me. However, there were great ideas that stemmed from this book about how I could better connect with my community. So, even if you do not live in a neighborhood you would still get something out of this book.
I loved that this book had great recommendations for using your table in your front yard. It even has some easy recipes throughout the book.
If you are looking for a way to reach out or get to know your neighbors this is a great idea and I would recommend this book. I wouldn’t say that this book had a lot of Christian inspiration in it. I thought it was lacking if you are looking for a Christian devotional type of book. It is more of a book about outreach for getting to know and having a relationship with people. I suppose it would definitely work into Christian outreach.
Overall I enjoyed reading this book. It made me think out of the box on what hospitality really is and how I can have a more hospitable home.
As all my book reviews, I received this book free from the booklookblogger.com program for my honest review.
